Onsted is a small grid of streets set among the hills of Cambridge Township, and in May the whole village seems to turn green over the course of a single weekend. Onsted Outdoor Service takes the lawns of that turn in hand: mowing on a rhythm, trimming close around fences and mailboxes, edging the walks so the sidewalk gets its full width back. Village lots sit close together, which means the work is on display and the lines had better be honest. Spring in this country is generous and short-tempered at once, and staying ahead of it is most of the job. Beyond the village the rounds reach out through Cambridge Township toward Tipton, Brooklyn and Clinton.
