Wamplers Lake sits in the middle of Cambridge Township like a held breath, and the summer around it is all boat trailers, cut grass and long evenings out by Walter J. Hayes State Park. Bates Enterprise keeps the lawns of that season in order with mowing, trimming and edging, the weekly upkeep that cottage lots and year-round homes both need. When the lake goes still and the hills go white, the same outfit turns to snow removal, plowing drives and clearing walks so a place stays reachable through a Lenawee County winter. The pride sits in both halves: that sharp border between turf and gravel in July, and the swept apron in front of a garage door in January.
