The Keweenaw gives you two working seasons and almost no seam between them. From the ridge above Swedetown, C&N Lawn and Snow watches July stretch its light nearly to ten o'clock — mowing, trimming and edging, keeping the short green months from getting away from anybody. Then the light shortens, and the same trucks turn to plowing driveways, clearing lots and salting the walks people cross in the dark. Grass and snow are really the same job up here: keeping the ground under a household usable. Both ends of the year, they take the yard back from whatever the lake sends up the hill.
