Bruce Crossing sits where US-45 meets M-28 in some of the deepest snow country Michigan has, where a season gets measured in feet and the driveway stakes stand taller than a person by March. Primrose Acres plows and blows through those Ontonagon County winters — opening driveways and lots, pushing banks back before they set up like rock, sanding and salting the glazed pitch down by the road. When the Lake Superior machine runs for a week without pause, the route runs with it, because falling behind here is not something a person catches back up on. Turnarounds stay wide, approaches stay open, culvert ends stay clear for the thaw. Out past Ewen and Trout Creek, an open driveway in February is a genuine accomplishment.
