Bruce Crossing is where US-45 meets M-28 in some of the deepest snow country in Michigan, with branches of the Ontonagon River running out through forest on every side. Winter here gets measured in feet, and M&J Services meets it with plowing, cleared walkways and ice control on drives that fill back in by morning. Then the melt runs loud past Agate Falls, the ditches green up, and the same crew turns to mowing, trimming and edging through a summer that has a year's growing to do in a hurry. Cleanups catch both ends — opening in spring, clearing in fall. Bruce Crossing, Ewen, Trout Creek and the Ontonagon County roads between them.
