Daws Excavating

About Daws Excavating

In the Thumb, snow rarely falls straight; it comes sideways across open farmland and piles up wherever a building or a hedgerow gives it somewhere to stop. Daws Excavating meets that drifting snow in Brown City, plowing and clearing driveways so the town keeps moving. An excavating outfit knows how to move earth, and moving snow is the same grammar in a lighter hand: push it where it belongs, stack it where it won't blow back. On a February morning after a night of wind, a drive that held a hip-deep drift becomes a clean run to the street again. Then the sun climbs over the fields, blinding white, and the whole day opens up.
