February in Brampton is a wind problem as much as a snow problem: an open field east of the road, a fence line, and suddenly the lane is shut with weather that fell two days ago. Global Grounds plows and blows those lanes back open, hauls snow off when the banks have nowhere left to grow, and keeps ice control on the approaches where meltwater runs and refreezes by dusk. Lots are cleared corner to corner so the painted lines still mean something. On the hard nights the route runs twice, and the plow lights make a slow circuit past dark farmhouses. It is unglamorous work, and it is what lets a Delta County morning start on time.
