Brady Township is farm drives and one-acre yards, old oaks left standing where the fields were cleared, and lawns that run right up against somebody's corn. Autumn is when the character of the place shows itself: leaves come down in drifts along the fence lines, and a yard that was tidy in August vanishes under them inside a week. Fall work here is patient — clear the turf, clear the corners, take the last mow while the ground is still firm enough to hold a machine. Come November, a raked lawn under bare oaks looks like the township has been put away properly for the year. That finish is worth the extra pass.
