D's Lawn Maintenance

About D's Lawn Maintenance

The Grand River is still young where it bends through this part of Jackson County, narrow enough to jump in places, and the land around it grows grass fast and drifts snow faster. D's Lawn Maintenance takes Blackman Charter Township as it comes: mowers and trimmers from the first green flush, plows once the fields go white. Summer work is stripes and sharp borders and a bagged, swept walk; winter work is a drive opened end to end and salt where the cold sits. The same yard, twice a year, learns to expect someone. There is a quiet pleasure in pulling away from a property that looks finished — no ragged corner, no half-cleared apron, nothing left to go back for.
