Hemlock Park lies along the river with its old dark evergreens, and there is a week every November when the last leaves come down and the town holds its breath for real snow. Pro Turf Outdoor Services LLC works both sides of that week. Fall means final mowings, leaf cleanup and edges cut clean before the grass goes dormant; winter means plowed drives, shoveled walks and ice held back through the long stretch of Mecosta County cold. By May the mowers are running again, striping lawns green across Big Rapids and out along the county roads. The seasons hand off; the work carries on.
