The Cedar River slides through the middle of Bellaire on its way from Intermediate Lake down to Lake Bellaire, and the village turns around it: the square, the shade trees, the short blocks of lawn between porch and sidewalk. Antrim Lawn & Landscape keeps those lawns cut and edged, beds shaped and borders held through the brief, generous northern summer. Up here the growing stretch is short enough that every green week counts, which makes tidy work feel like a way of using the year well. A yard mowed in even rows on a July morning, dew still sitting on the grass, is a small and complete good thing. The work runs out to Central Lake, Alden, Mancelona and Elk Rapids.
