Joe's Stump Grinding

About Joe's Stump Grinding

Late-winter snow in Backus comes wet and heavy, the kind that bows the birches and packs hard beneath a tire. Joe's Stump Grinding, a business named for clearing away what a tree leaves behind, brings that same clearing instinct to snow, opening driveways and approaches around the township. Stump work is about getting down to the ground, and so is a well-cleared drive: nothing lumpy, nothing to trip over, just level footing all the way to the door. Out here, an opened driveway means the day can go on as planned, whether that is work, an errand or a trip down to the lake. Even in March, with spring promised and not yet delivered, the gravel beneath shows through.
