About Gilbert Excavating Inc.

East of the village the ground climbs into orchard hills; down along the shore Arcadia Marsh lies frozen and reed-brown beneath the snow — two different worlds a mile apart, both needing the drive opened. Gilbert Excavating Inc. runs snow work across that ground, plowing driveways, lanes and lots around Arcadia and out along the roads inland toward Copemish and Thompsonville. Up on the ridges the wind builds drifts across open fields; down near the water it just keeps falling, hour after hour. Either way the plow goes where it has to, and the walks are opened by hand. There is a plain kind of pride in one empty, clean driveway at daybreak with a foot of snow on everything else.
