The Flint River loops through Arbela Township on its way between Millington and Birch Run, and the silver maples along it hold the low ground damp well into June. Grass in that bottomland grows like it has something to prove. Out on the section roads the yards run big, and there is genuine pleasure in watching a half acre come back into shape in one afternoon.
