Boyd Lawn and Snow

About Boyd Lawn and Snow

Out in Scio Township there is nothing to slow the wind but a fencerow, and a storm that leaves four inches in town will pile a foot across a rural driveway by morning. Boyd Lawn and Snow works that open ground: plowing the long approaches, opening walks and doorways, spreading salt where meltwater keeps refreezing at the bottom of a slope. Drifting is its own weather, and it arrives after the sky has cleared, so the truck comes back a second time and thinks nothing of it. There's a particular hush to a country road at four in the morning with the plow lights on and the drive going clean behind you. By breakfast nobody in the house is stuck.
