Spring on the Kalamazoo River comes up out of the low ground first — the banks green while the hills above Allegan are still brown. Greenfrog Lawn & Landscape starts its year down there, raking winter loose from the turf, cutting the first growth back into shape, mulching beds before the weeds get ideas. Through summer it is mowing and trimming on a schedule the grass sets rather than the calendar. Come October the river valley fills with leaves and the cleanup runs until the yards are bare and quiet. A lawn kept this way looks composed all the way around the year, and that is the whole point.
