About Joshua Tompkins Landscape Architecture LLC

On East Elm Street in June the light hangs on until nearly nine, and the old stone walls throw long shadows across lawns that have been mown the same shape for a century. Joshua Tompkins Landscape Architecture LLC tends grass like that around Yarmouth — mowing, edging, trimming and the seasonal cleanups that bookend a Maine growing year. The craft lives in small decisions: which direction to cut, how tight to run an edge along a granite step, when to let a shaded corner rest. A lawn is a surface people walk on barefoot and look at every single day, and it repays that kind of attention. When fall comes, the leaves come off those same yards and the ground gets put to bed.
