April in Winthrop is a slow argument between mud and green, and it lasts until suddenly it doesn't. Tree Doctor opens the season with cleanups — winter sand raked off the lawn edges, matted leaves pulled out of the beds, brush from the March storms hauled away. From there it is the weekly work: mowing, string trimming, edging, mulch, and one more pass through the beds before the heat sets in. Down by the town landing you can watch the yards change week to week, gray to green to properly kept. It is a good thing to be part of, every spring.
