About Seth T. Flaherty Construction

At four in the morning out past Carleton Pond, the only lights in Winthrop are the amber ones on a plow truck and the snow crossing them sideways. Seth T. Flaherty Construction runs that hour: driveways opened, turnarounds pushed back wide, walkways and steps cleared, sand and salt worked into the ice that forms underneath everything else. Nor'easters here rarely arrive politely — they come in bands, pause, and come again — so a route gets driven more than once before it's finished. The point of all of it is a small, ordinary thing: somebody leaves for work on time and never once thinks about the storm. There is genuine pride in a drive cleared before dawn, edge to edge, with the mailbox still standing where it started.
