Little Sebago wakes before the houses do — a skin of mist on the water, a loon somewhere out of sight, then the first mower of the morning starting up down the road. AC Yard Services works those Windham roads all through the green months, mowing, trimming and edging until each yard sits neat against the pines. Come November the same trucks change their purpose, and driveways that ran down to the water all summer get plowed, shoveled and sanded before the coffee cools. There is a plain satisfaction in a lawn striped even and a walkway cleared to bare pavement. Windham asks for both, and both are the work.
