Before dawn the old quarry ledge at Rock Row stands blue and silent, and the lots along Warren Avenue are still one unbroken sheet of white. Walkways get cleared and sanded, entrances widened, aprons cut back after the road plows have filled them in. Storms here come off the coast wet and heavy, which makes an early pass worth more than a late one. By the time the first cars turn in, the pavement is dark and the painted lines are showing again.
