Inland of the beach, Wells is field and stone wall and slow rivers — the Merriland and Branch Brook easing down through the hay meadows toward the sea. Everest207 Landscape keeps yards in that country: regular mowing, trimming, edging, mulch in the beds, and the two big sweeps that bracket a Maine growing season. When the weather turns, the same attention goes into snow — drives plowed out, walkways cleared, the piles moved back before the next storm lands on top of them. Wells sits low and open, so a northeast wind has nothing to slow it and drifting can undo an hour's work in twenty minutes. Getting out ahead of it, and staying there, is most of the art.
