North of Washington village the gravel roads keep their own weather — longer drifts, later thaws, corners where the wind stacks snow hard against the spruce. Family Traditions Logging & Excavation plows the winter side of that country: long camp roads and back driveways, dooryards wide enough to turn a load, walks cleared, sand laid down on the steep grades where a tire wants to spin. March up here is its own season, ruts in the morning and glare ice by dusk, and the plowing has to answer both.
