In Van Buren the June light holds until nearly ten, and the St. John River runs bright between two countries. Northern Turf Management cuts lawns, trims them out and keeps the edges sharp here and on through the potato country toward Grand Isle and Caribou. Summer in the valley is short and it is generous — grass comes on hard, and keeping ahead of it means never letting a week slip. There's a real satisfaction in a yard mowed tight against a field that has just been hilled. When the long northern light finally goes, the lawns along the river road are all squared away.
