Ice-out on Sebago's Lower Bay is Standish's real calendar — the day the gray plate cracks, the water goes blue again, and the mowers come down off their blocks. Arrowhead Landscape Company works that turn of the year in both directions: mowing, edging and cleanups while the lake throws its light back up into the pines, then plowing and sanding when the same road runs white. There is a particular satisfaction in a lawn cut in clean parallel bands and in a driveway opened to bare pavement before the first commuter is awake. Standish keeps its sand roads and its long water views, and both of them ask to be looked after. Arrowhead brings the same steadiness to a June border that it brings to a February drift.
