The St. George River begins small in Searsmont and stays modest right through the village, past the lumber mill and the handful of buildings that count as downtown. Kennedy's Mowing works the dooryards and field edges along it, cutting through a June that grows grass faster than anyone plans for and trimming out the corners no machine reaches on its own. Rural lawns here run into pasture and gravel, and making that transition look intentional is most of the trick. Winter in Waldo County is long and unhurried, and the plowing that comes with it keeps back-road driveways open when the town goes still. Searsmont, Belmont, Morrill, Appleton and Lincolnville all fall within the run.
