Rockport was built on stone — the old lime kilns still stand down near the water, evidence of what this town once burned and shipped. Midcoast Chimney & Masonry works in that material, and when the ground goes hard and mortar season closes, the plow goes on the truck. Winter mornings mean driveways cleared, lots opened, steps and paths shoveled down to something safe underfoot, with salt and sand where the ice likes to gather. A mason's habit carries over: straight edges, corners squared, nothing left half-finished. By the time smoke is rising off the chimneys along the harbor road, the way in has already been made.
