Rockport tucks its harbor into a pocket of hill, and the Goose River comes down through town to meet the tide. Harley Co Inc mows and maintains lawns on those slopes, where fog keeps the grass thick and the salt air holds it green longer than it has any right to stay. Cut in long passes, a lawn above the harbor reads like the water below it — even, banded, going somewhere. Out toward Beech Hill the fields open and the light changes, and the same attention goes to a small side-street yard as to an acre with a view of Penobscot Bay. This is a town people look at closely; the lawns ought to hold up to that.
