A storm night in Presque Isle has its own sound: wind against the siding, the scrape of a blade somewhere down the street, then quiet again. Outlaw Mowing runs both ends of the year here — plowing driveways and clearing walks while the snow is still coming, then mowing the same yards once the banks finally give up in April. By February the piles at the end of a drive stand shoulder-high, and the trick is stacking them where they will not shrink the road come the next storm. Summer is the fast season, cutting and trimming on a tight loop while the grass runs. Two seasons, one town, and a truck that never really gets put away.
