At four in the morning in February, Pittsfield is nothing but streetlight and blowing white, and the plow is already out on the hill roads. Young's Lawn Care & Plowing runs both halves of the year here: snow plowing, drives and dooryards opened up, walkways shoveled and traction laid on the steep pitches, then mowing, trimming and cleanups once the ground dries in May. The winter reward is simple and complete — somebody opens a door at six and the drive is black and wide already. The summer one is quieter, a mowed yard on a Sebasticook valley road with the mower lines still showing in the grass. The route covers Pittsfield, Detroit, Burnham, Hartland, Palmyra and Newport.
