Fineline Groundcare

About Fineline Groundcare

It begins with the low pull of the mower over open grass and, come the cold months, the steady scrape of a plow blade drawn down a driveway before the town has fully woken — Fineline Groundcare tends the yards and lanes of Mechanic Falls, Maine, where the Little Androscoggin drops over its mill-town falls and the foothills stand dark with pine. Through the green season there is mowing and trimming, edges cut clean along a walkway, the cleanups that leave a lawn breathing again once the leaves have let go. When snow piles against the brick of the old mill village, they clear it, plowing the drives and paths open so a morning can simply begin. There is a plain satisfaction in a strip of turf held even to its border, in a dooryard shoveled wide and waiting. The work runs close to the ground here, one property at a time, from the river valley up into the surrounding hills.
