The sun reaches Lubec before it reaches anywhere else in the country, and West Quoddy's striped tower stands in that first light with the fog still lying out on the water. Back 40 Enterprises mows in it. Grass grows thick and slow in salt air, and the lawns along the headland want cutting, trimming and edging on their own downeast schedule. Spring and fall cleanups clear off whatever the wind delivered in from the bay. A tidy yard at the far edge of the map is worth doing carefully.
