About L P Poirier & Son Inc

February dawn along the canals, mill walls throwing back a pale light, steam rising off the water where it has not frozen through. L P Poirier & Son Inc runs the winter routes through those old blocks — plowing driveways and lots, clearing walkways, salting and sanding the slick spots. Downtown Lewiston was laid out for a different century, which means tight corners, short aprons, and nowhere obvious to put what comes off the blade. Getting it right is a puzzle, and the answer looks like open pavement and square banks that will still be square in March. Cold mornings, warm truck, the work finished before the city stirs.
