Downeast Dirtworks

About Downeast Dirtworks

Jonesboro is coast and barrens at once: the Chandler River slipping down to salt water, and blueberry land rolling off beneath a vast Washington County sky. Winter here blows in off the ocean wet and heavy, the kind of snow that packs to cement by nightfall if nobody moves it. Downeast Dirtworks clears that snow, plowing driveways and pushing back drifts for homes along this stretch of the Downeast coast. The name speaks of moving earth, and the same instinct shows in a plowed drive cut wide, with the banks shoved well clear of the turnaround. When the storm finally slides out to sea, Jonesboro wakes to driveways already clear.
