The Saco River runs the length of Hollis, and the villages it strung together — Bar Mills, Salmon Falls, Hollis Center — still keep their old mill-town bones. The Constant Gardener tends properties along those roads through both halves of the year: mowing, trimming and cleanups when the river valley greens up, plowing and shoveling once the current runs black between snowy banks. Sandy river soil grows a fine lawn if someone pays attention to it, and attention is the whole job.
