Taunton Bay empties and fills twice a day behind Hancock, and the flats shine like pewter when the tide is out. Berry Cove Gardens works the lawns and garden beds along that shore — mowing, trimming, edging, cutting the beds down in spring and back again in fall. Saltwater weather grows soft green grass and stubborn weeds in equal measure, and both want a regular hand. Kneeling at a bed line with the water going out behind you and herons working the flats is not a bad way to spend a morning. By the time the mower is loaded, the yard looks like somebody loves it, because somebody does.
