Randall's Excavation

About Randall's Excavation

Winter reaches Freeport from the water: a nor'easter builds over Casco Bay, and by the time it crosses the Winslow Park shore the snow is coming sideways and sticking to everything upright. Randall's Excavation plows through it, opening driveways and yards from the harbor lanes up to the roads out toward the interstate. Coastal storms swing to rain and back to freeze, so timing counts as much as pushing — go too early and it drifts back in, too late and it sets like stone. Sand on the slope down to a garage door is what keeps the morning uneventful. By first light the pavement is showing again and the bay has gone flat gray.
