About Sweet Grass Organics

Eastport wakes up before the rest of the country does, out on Moose Island where the tide swings twenty feet and the fog comes and goes as though it pays rent. Grass grown in that salt air is tough and slow and well worth keeping — Sweet Grass Organics mows it, trims it, edges the walks, tends the beds and clears the yards out in spring and again after the last leaves are down. Wind off Passamaquoddy Bay sends clippings wherever it likes, so the tidying afterward is half the craft. There is something plain and good about a trim green dooryard set against grey shingles and open water. Work runs through Eastport, Perry, Pembroke, Robbinston, Dennysville and Lubec.
