Camden is a town with mountains standing right over its harbor, and on a clear winter dusk the granite of Mount Battie holds the last pink light while the streets below have already gone blue. Cliff Side Tree does the snow work underneath all that — driveways plowed out to the road, turnarounds opened, steps and paths shoveled down to something walkable. Hillside driveways here drop and bend, and each one wants its own approach. Clearing a steep dooryard properly is quiet, particular work with an obvious result: you can get out. That is the whole measure of it.
