Plante's Property Maintenance

About Plante's Property Maintenance

Snow starts falling on Cambridge in the late afternoon, quiet at first, filling the ruts on the camp roads and the space between the woodpile and the door. Plante's Property Maintenance watches that sky the same way the town does, then goes out and stays out. Driveways get plowed wide, walkways shoveled down to something you can cross in boots, and the piles put where they will not block the view backing out. In a hard February the work is mostly patience — clearing the same dooryard three times in a night so it never gets ahead of anybody. Come morning the drive is a clean brown-and-white rectangle, and the woods on either side hold their snow like they were always meant to.
