About McLain Mowing

Down the long finger of Bristol the road keeps finding water — the river on one side, coves and harbors on the other, and out at the end the light standing over the rocks. McLain Mowing keeps the grass in between under control: mowing the sloping lawns above Round Pond and New Harbor, trimming around lobster gear and fieldstone, edging so a drive keeps its lines through the whole green season. The ground shifts from loam to ledge in the space of a few steps here, and the mowing pattern has to respect that. Late in the year the leaves and the last cut come together, and the peninsula settles down for the quiet months. A tidy lawn with saltwater at the bottom of it is a very good thing to leave behind.
