March on the Back River is a negotiation — ice going out, gravel roads softening, snow still banked in the shade on the way to Barters Island. E.M. Wood Construction knows both ends of that year: plowing, shoveling and sanding all winter, then the spring cleanup that carries off everything the storms dragged in. Once the ground firms up it becomes mowing season, weekly cuts and trimming and bed edges held straight until the frost. There is something satisfying about a property that gets the same attention at five on a February morning as it does at noon in July. Boothbay asks for both, and both are worth doing right.
