From most of Blue Hill you can see two things at once — the bay going pewter under a north wind, and the hill itself standing up behind the village. Down East Landscape & Design works between them, cutting and trimming through the green months and turning to cleanups when October strips the birches and the light goes long and gold by four in the afternoon. Beds edged, leaves carted off, a lawn cut short one final time: a yard on this peninsula earns its rest. Then winter takes the wheel and the same properties want plowing, walks shoveled, and sand on driveways that tilt toward the water. Salt water keeps the bay open; everything else here goes white and stays that way until April.
