Winter comes at Biddeford sideways off the water, with sleet mixed into it more often than anybody would like. Maine Pavement plows through that — clearing drives and lots along the Alfred Street run, opening the Five Points approaches, then going back for whatever the wind has pushed in behind them. Coastal storms swing between snow and rain within a single night, so the timing of salt matters as much as the timing of the blade. Piles are placed where the sun will eventually take them and where nobody has to back out blind. Out toward the shore the wind never stops rearranging things, and clearing there is simply a matter of going again until the surface stays put.
