Two very different jobs share one address in Bangor: keeping turf green through a short, bright summer, and keeping pavement open through a long, serious winter. Northern Turf Management does both — mowing and trimming out past Essex Woods and along the Union Street corridor while the days are long, then plowing drives and lots once the Penobscot goes gray and the wind turns north. Grass up here has about five good months and uses every one of them, so the cutting schedule stays tight from May onward.
