Mud season on the back roads toward Levant and Kenduskeag is nobody's favorite postcard, but it's honest weather and it turns up every April. Dirty Work Co. works right through it — spring cleanups, then mowing and trimming once the ground firms, then plowing, shoveling and sanding when the ruts freeze back over in November. The name says plainly what the job is. So does a driveway scraped clean at five in the morning, and a lawn edged tight along a gravel shoulder. Bangor and the towns west of it keep both kinds of work coming.
