About CPB Enterprises

At three in the morning the Thomas Hill Standpipe is a pale shape in the falling snow and the parking lots of Bangor are still untouched. CPB Enterprises is out in them — plowing, stacking the banks where they belong, salting the lanes so the first car in at six finds pavement instead of a problem. There's a specific pride in a lot done right: square corners, clear fire lanes, walks shoveled to the door, the whole surface open before the sky turns gray. Storms come up the Penobscot valley heavy and wet or fine and drifting, and each one gets read before the blade drops. Plowing, sanding and salting, and clearing it again when the wind fills it back in.
