In January the Kennebec runs black and steaming past Anson while the banks go white right down to the waterline. Partridge & Kids Construction, LLC plows and sands through that cold — driveways cleared, lots opened, walkways shoveled, snow carried back before the next storm needs the room. Up toward North Anson where the Carrabassett comes in, the hills throw the wind around and a drift can rebuild itself in an hour. That is what the return trip is for. Coming back down the road at dawn past a line of dooryards you opened yourself is about as good as a winter morning gets.
