The Whole Nine Yards, LLC keeps its own hours in that weather — plow down, driveways opened, walkways cut clean to the doorstep so nobody has to guess where the step is. Out toward the New Hampshire line the roads run long and unpaved, and an opened drive there is the difference between a morning and a whole lost day. There is real satisfaction in the last pass: banks squared off, the turnaround left wide, sand laid where the slope wants to slide. By the time the town wakes, the work looks like nothing ever happened — which is exactly the idea.
