Marlboro Mower

About Marlboro Mower

Water Street runs narrow and low, and in a storm the snow gathers down there in a way it never does on the higher blocks of Upper Marlboro. Marlboro Mower works the town through winter — plowing out drives, cutting walkways clear to the door, treating ice where the ground stays frozen in the shadow of a porch. Snow in southern Maryland comes wet and heavy one week and fine and drifting the next, and each kind wants a different pass with the blade. The measure of a night's work is the sound of a car pulling out of a driveway without hesitating.
